One Day til the Yard Sale!

Yay! Tomorrow in the A.M. is the Yard Sale! I am excited and am looking forward to getting rid of whatever I can and make money at the same time. All fun. Yesterday driving into the neighborhood, I noticed another yard sale sign of someone just two doors down that will be having a yard sale tomorrow also. Great for business, if I do say so myself. Double the excitement.

Last night, I got my signs together, posted my ad on Craigslist, and made a list of change I need for the yard sale (my husband will go to the bank for me today, because I have an exhibit to take down after work) and added a few more items to the pile and priced as I gathered.

Tonight, my friend will bring her items over and we will semi-arrange the sale in the garage so tomorrow morning we can just shift it all into the driveway and be ready to roll and make some money. That is all to say that Mother Nature is on our side. :-)

YAY! IT'S FRIDAY!

Thrifty Thursday: Two Days til the Yard Sale!

Yep, only two days left! Time to go crazy finalizing everything.

Tonight, after work, I will bring everything for the yard sale to one room and check to see if I have everything stickered and that everything is in working order. Also, I will run my ad on Craigslist and prepare my Yard Sale Signs. My husband puts my signs out the night before unless it is raining he will wait til WAY early that morning to put them out. We are lucky to be able to wait til the last minute on this stuff due to our location is easy to get "business."

Tomorrow (Friday...Yay Friday), my friend will bring her items over and I will assist her as this is her first yard sale EVER. She needs a little help with pricing. I told her, pricing is something I have never gotten the hang of....just go with the flow. Also, tomorrow night, I will try to get to bed early so I can get up super early for set up.

My next post will probably be after the yard sale on Saturday or Sunday. I will keep you "posted!" Have a wonderful Thursday!

Tuesday Toot: Pricing done for Yard Sale!

My Tuesday Toot for this week is...

I have all my pricing either done, or stickers ready to peel and stick with prices already written on them. I also have signs ready for items such as clothing in which I have a lot of for sale. (Example: All clothing items: $1.00 each) This makes it a ton easier to calculate and I just want to get rid of it all.

I am excited about the yard sale...it is this Saturday the 31st! I am feeling good about it...just hoping and praying for good weather (at least in the a.m.). :-)

Happy Tuesday Toot!

The World Got Thriftier on this day 32 Years Ago!

Yep! Today at around 2:19am I turned 32 years old! :-)

How will I spend my birthday? Working of course! Living as normal as possible and glad that I can! I am feeling good today and glad to make it to another birthday...always a blessing!

I am enjoying my a.m. coffee and getting ready for work. I will be proctoring an EOG survey today, teach my classes, then prepare a weaving exhibit and hang the exhibit after work, then home sweet home. Home is my favorite place to be. It is my "Staycation" as someone here on the blogworld calls it. If that is you...please remind me of who coined that phrase...I love it! It suits me well.

Have a wonderful May 19th Everyone! I will! :-)

New look to Thrifty and Creative Coming Soon!

I just had to share my excitement for the new look my blog is going to get. It is a much needed makeover, as my coffee cup graphic at the top somehow has disappeared on most computers, including my own. I have commissioned/purchased a banner graphic from Swank Web Style Design Studio! I really like the designs they have done for others, particularly the cartoon looking designs, so this is what I have requested. I can't wait to see what they come up with. Almost anything is better than the blank space at the top now with my little EntreCard Ad. :-) It is pitiful, I know, but good things are to come for Thrifty and Creative! I am excited!

Keep checking! I will let you know of the progress.

P.S. Being budget conscience I am at this point only getting the top part done. Over time, I will have them to do the entire blog. One thing at a time. I am using Birthday Money to pay for it...psst...My Birthday is Tomorrow! Yay! The big 3-2 "32!" I know, I can't believe it either. :-)

Thrifty Thursday: Getting Ready for my Yard Sale!

Just wanted to send out an FYI that I am getting prepared for my Yard Sale that will be in two weeks (May 31st). I intend to keep you all posted on my selling success (if any). Luckily, I live in a location that you almost don't need to advertise at all! I just have my husband to put the signs up the night before (or morning of) the yard sale and I run a Free Ad on Craigslist.com! I list there as I know when I go "yard saling," I too use Craigslist.com to map out my plan of shopping for that morning and figure others do as well. I even had one shopper at my first ever yard sale (two years ago) tell me she found me on Craigslist and was looking forward to my sale. On Craigslist you can list the items you are going to sell, address or directions to the sale, and you can even post pictures of something you think will get your buyers to your sale. Great resource. I like to wait til about Wednesday before the Yard Sale to list it, so it won't get lost in all the other lists of yard sales before Friday night.

Best wishes to everyone! Have a wonderful Thursday!

Shopping on Ebay: Tuesday Toot

I am glad to report that I have found some deals on items that we need on ebay that otherwise were difficult to find in the stores. We are beginning to continue to get ready for our trip this summer, yes, Again! :-) I took a long break from it but Have to get back to it at this point with a month and a half left to get ready. (Big Trip for us)

I bought an XD usb card reader (size of a flash drive). The one we had before finally died on us. This one is more compact...only $7.00 WITH shipping. I don't think that is bad at all.

I also bought a brand new bottle of perfume that someone requested for $13.00 with shipping and tax and have bid on another bottle from the same seller. We had a request from someone we are going to see as to what they wanted and found a good deal on it (two bottles). The regular price on this perfume is like $30 a bottle...so not bad at $13.00!

I just bought 10 mini DV tapes for our camcorder to have with us to video tape every thing while we are there for $25.00 with shipping, etc... I think that is pretty good also.

So, ebay is still a great source for some of your shopping needs.

I am; however, on the search for a deal on a 2G XD type H card for my new camera my husband bought me for Mother's Day. Even on Ebay, they are expensive. I will check out some stores this weekend and decide if I will also buy that from ebay. If you know of a great photography source for lenses, etc... post it in the comments jar please.

Happy Tuesday Toot!

Our Tax Rebate is here! Happy Friday!

That is a Friday Celebration! We just received our Tax Rebate. Yippie! Where did it go? Straight to the savings account for our trip this summer. And that is where it needs and has to stay. The Tax Rebate money is our "spending money" for our trip this summer to Romania. We are looking forward to it, and are glad we had this money coming to help with "fun spending" while we are there.

Anywho, Happy Friday and Happy Early Mother's Day to all you Moms out there this weekend!

My husband bought me a nice new Camera for Mother's Day. He used his work Recycling Money to buy it. He and his other co-workers save some part when they fix cars and a recycling guy comes around to collect them every few months and they get a check for recycling those parts. Don't ask me details, because I have no idea what part it is. Something small is all I know. Always nice to get an extra check here and there.

Feeling under the weather today.

Just wanted to explain why my postings are a bit off this week. I started the week with a sore throat and now has turned into a miserable cold. I thought it was allergies, but apparently I have a cold. I am taking some Sudafed, etc...to make it through the workdays and coming home to take naps; therefore, missing out on my blogging and communication. I hope I will feel well again soon. Real soon, as I wanted to go to my Mom's this weekend for Mother's Day to see Mom, Sister and her 6 week old baby. Not so sure that is a good idea if I am sick around a baby.

I'll keep you posted.

Tuesday Toot: DIY Update

Hi Everyone!

My Tuesday Toot for this week is a DIY update:

This past weekend my husband finished my son's swing. We have had the parts, etc...since September. I believe he was waiting for the perfect weather. My son just loves it and so do we. Very relaxing to have a swing around.

Weekend Deals: Yard Sale Finds

I am excited to report my deals from this past weekend. My deals came from Yard Sales!

Here it goes...

The following purchases are from a High School yard sale (HUGE...like 100 yard sales in one place)
*I bought 7 Leap Pad books (three cartridges) that were in a bag together for $1.00! One book and cartridge we already have, so I will give that to my sister for her baby. Another book and cartridge do work and match...we will keep. The other books and leftover cartridge (didn't have the book) we will hang onto. He can still "read" the books or be read to. for a $1.00 ...it is totally worth it for the two fully functioning books as they retail for $10 each.

*A SUPER YARD! Looks brand new with all six panels....$2.00!!!! Retails for $60.00 for six panels. We have two Super Yards already, this set will be for my sis. What a deal!

*Melissa & Doug Magnetic Dolls (change the wooden dolls with magnetic wooden clothing). No missing pieces that I can tell. Excellent quality toy, name brand.... $.50! 50 Cents! Wow!!! I would bet this retails for $20 or so in the stores.

*THREE Creative Memories (two in the shrink wrap still...never been open) Scrapbooks! $1.00 EACH! Two are 12X12's and one is a 12X6 book.

*One Creative Memories set of pages in the shrink wrap in black...$1.00 You can't leave such a thing for those prices! That stuff is Expensive so I may have to take up some scrapbooking this summer!

My total for all this was $8.00 Yes, I know it adds up to $7.50...they overcharged me for one item...I am not about to complain with those savings!

We stopped at 4-5 other yard sales at houses...and one we had success...here is what I bought:

*A beautiful red and gold teapot! Will be great for the dining room or give to my mother who loves teapots: $4.00

*About 50 Chinese Slides (Dragons, etc...)...great for teaching...with a little viewer for $1.50

*Three Hardback Children's Books (excellent condition, no writing in them): $.50 each $1.50 for all three.

*A little silver tray that will be used to drop keys, change and cell phones in for $1.00 very cute!

This yard sale total: $8.00 as well...how funny!

So you see, I had a GREAT Saturday out with the yard sales! For less than $20.00, I got all the above! I am so excited about my purchases! Man, I am ready to go again next week!

Have a great week!
